How to Install Azure Storage Explorer on Windows, Mac & Linux

This guide covers installing Azure Storage Explorer on all three supported platforms. Estimated time: 5 minutes.

System Requirements

  • Windows: Windows 10 or later (64-bit)
  • macOS: macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later
  • Linux: Ubuntu 20.04+, Debian 10+, or equivalent

Step 1: Download

Download Azure Storage Explorer from the official Microsoft page.

Select your operating system and download the installer.

Step 2: Install

Windows

  1. Run the downloaded .exe installer
  2. Accept the license agreement
  3. Choose installation directory (default is fine)
  4. Click Install
  5. Launch Azure Storage Explorer

macOS

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg file
  2. Drag Azure Storage Explorer to your Applications folder
  3. Launch from Applications

Linux

  1. Extract the downloaded .tar.gz archive
  2. Run ./StorageExplorer from the extracted directory
  3. Optionally create a desktop shortcut

Step 3: First Run

On first launch:

  1. Sign in with your Azure account (or skip to connect manually later)
  2. The app will load your subscriptions and storage accounts
  3. Expand the tree view to see your storage resources
